[Request Name]
Interface for your desktop. Calendar maybe?
[Description]
How about an interface that lies on top of your wallpaper on your desktop, which tells you what episodes is next and which episodes that have been aired?
[Comments]
I have really no idea if it is really possible.

That is a very interesting idea but I dont think that we need to develop something special for this since all you need to do is find some RSS software out there on the internet that already does that fore you. I am pretty sure that it is out there seldom I cant recollect any specified software right now.
Now when you have found the software all you need to do is to get the RSS feed that shows todays episodes and then subscribe to that and you have what you are looking for.
Good Luck |

Personally, I can't see what's so hard about entering the calendar or some other page through a direct bookmark/link to it.
I for example have the SeriesWatch page added to my Internet Explorer bookmarks under the directory "Links", which then appears in my links bar in IE. I just click that page, and I get all the interesting info there. (I filter only for "Acquire" and "Watch" which is the best configuration ever :p) |

Some people are very lazy. Like me.
Could any of you direct me to such software? Via PM or something? Then you can delete this thread.
Thanks anyway. |

Of course I can.
-----------
First I downloaded BlogExpress from http://www.usablelabs.com/productBlogExpress.html
I installed it and the interface looked like this:
http://img516.imageshack.us/my.php?image=interface13xt.jpg
After that I right clicked the "BlogExpress" text in the left colone and clicked New --> Category and called it "MyEpisodes.com". What you call it is up to you though.
After this, right click your new category and go to New --> Subscription. Find your RSS feed URL and paste it into the field. Press check. Then finish.
And voil, there you go. If you want more under that category, for example [all] and [today] just go right click your category and make another new subscription.
Good luck mate. |

Winbar 1.2.95 has a nice reader option too. You'd have t make your own tracker to get it to work, as it's a little different than a regular rss reader. But I got the MyEpisodes today rss feed in a bar on top of my screen, together with info about my computer, like cpu usage, ram usage, volume, etc. Winbar is a great tool
cut out the rss part, because the full 1280 pix would stretch up the page.
the bar scolls each line, for a self-defined number of seconds.

If you are running Windows, this could be done via the ActiveDesktop.
1. Start->Ctrl-Panel->Display
2. 'Desktop' tab -> 'Customize Desktop' -> 'Web' tab
3. 'New' -> use this URL:
http://www.myepisodes.com/cal.php
4. 'Customize' to synchronize every day and have it save your Username/Password
5. Size the 'ActiveDesktop' to the size you want (full Desktop/Wallpaper if you want), show icons, Lock all items.
This should work and seems to fit in the request you were wanting. |

Hmm, I've been looking through the webpage that TheDream mentioned, but haven't found any RSS readers to my liking yet.
What I would like is an RSS reader that would have a scaleable, no-nonsense and no-graphics, window where the last x (where x is configurable ofcourse) items/headlines (or in case of MyEpisodes, shows) would be shown and nothing more. Maybe even creating an option for the window to be (semi)transparant and/or change in font-color, background color etc.
If you would then click on a link (say a news caption that looks interesting) it could just send you to the page where the news item came from, or it could open up a new window with the entire news item in it.
Does anybody know an RSS reader that could do something like this? If so, please let me know. If not, I'll have to program one myself, and my Windows coding just plain sucks :).
Maybe I should just wait for Windows Vista, it'll probably have something like this integrated :P. |

Personally I only recommend Google Reader.
It is free, it is simple and still powerful and it is online witch mean that you can access it everywhere. And yes I use it my self.
Now I am just waiting for a extension for Firefox that integrates it into the browser |
