For a comedy overdose, some shows are a little dark ^^. best ones from top to bottom

I see, you did follow An Idiot Abroad, have you also seen The Ricky Gervais Show ?, it's kinda a must.
A little bit like Band of Brothers: The Pacific and Space: Above and Beyond
I liked Wolf's Rain if your looking for an anime, just like with elfen lied, at the end of each episode your just happy for some reason 
Looking at Breaking Bad, Boardwalk Empire, Dexter, Game of Thrones, The Sopranos, The Wire, Twin Peaks you also are able to appreciate drama shows with a more complex storyline, some shows you may also like:

Havent you seen any of these??, i just cant believe it. You should atleast try out the pilot episodes.
Did you ever try: True Blood ,it has vampires and a crapload of other beings, but it is pretty good
