I don't at all object to adding ads to the site - in fact, I was wondering why you didn't for so long, but can you possibly get better ones?
I mean, you have a very very targeted audience, TV watchers. You should be able to get better paying ads that are related to new TV shows, or perhaps videos/DVD's, or even electronics. The ads you are showing are just generic ones for anyone (and anoyingly flashy), you probably don't have a very good clickthrough rate.
tv.com, and IMDB have ads like what I'm talking about, I don't know what network they use, but maybe you can find out?
Another option is to switch to google ads, and include maybe image, or video ads from them. Google usually does a better job of giving related ads. |

agree with astv, have no problem with ads, as long as they're not annoyingly huge and borderline-epilepsia-inducing flashy .. unless the browser window is maximized, the ads cover a big part of the links and episode titles, which is really irritating .. it would be great if they weren't "always on top" or had a [x] button..
but thats just my $0.02 on the matter .. up to the staff what stays and what goes .. |

It shouldn't be on top of the page, it should be beneath it (as it is on FireFox and Internet Explorer). What browser are you using it? |

I'm using Mozilla Firefox 1.5.0.7
The ad is on the top-left hand side of the page, at 160x600 pixels from what i can tell, which means that when the window is shrunk, it can cover pretty much this whole region:
-----------------------------------------
Home | My Shows
My Episodes | Series Watch
Air Date | Show Name
(the first 12 are partly covered)
------------------------------------------
Its not the end of the world, just sucks when multiple windows are spread across your desktop, as the myepisodes one cant be seen that well .. if it is unclear i can take a screenshot..
P.S. thnx for the quick reply |

You are right, it does goes above, my bad, I've tried a css solution with style="z-index: -100" for the floating div that contains the ad, but it wont work, maybe because its a flash ad?
*Update*: I've seen a non-flash ad, and it does goes beneath, but the flash ones go above the page. Still checking on it. |

Thanks Hostile, for all the work you put into this!
But the problem I was talking about is this:
The add still covers the left hand side when the window is shrunk down .. Is there any chance of an [x] button or preventing it from being on top?
Thanks again in advance!
--------------------------------------
Update: the GetGreen and Tirol ads hide themselves when the window shrinks, but the Strato one and the Click Here To See What Happens does not.
--------------------------------------
Update 2: yey, the table layout fixed it, now they dont overlap . Your rule.

It shouldn't be like that thought, I've put it in a table cell and it will just put a scrollbar to the page, please check again :S |

They must have heard you.
I apologize for the ads, but its a necessary course of action we must take in order to continue support off the website.
I have tried several ad companies and this seems to be the best one. |

The "fly-zap" ad is still buzzing around. It's for ConsumerSavingCenter.com. |

On a positive note, I really like the Casale Media advertisement. Nice clean image which I just had to click to see what the company did. |

These adverts are very annoying, I'm recommending my friends to use a different site now.
Maybe Google Advertisements would be less invasive
Users who want to avoid these annoying advertisements should use Mozilla Firefox and download this extension - http://adblockplus.org/en/ |

Annoying yes, but certainly not enough to abandon ship. All the great, free functionality is still in place.
However, disabling the ads for those who donate is a good solution all-around. In the mean time, it would be nice to see the "Zap" ad (Consumer Savings Center) disappear permanently. |

Put in some google text ads.
You have nothing to loose - nobody will complain about them, and maybe you'll get some clicks. |

imdb has ads from doubleclick.com and from www.atdmt.com.
tv.com uses com.com (zdnet) and www.xplusone.com.
None of them seem to have a web form where you just sign up for ads, but if you email them with your demographics (lots of tv viewers) you should probably be able to get a good deal. |
